HUME, Marion Edith Hume (nee Hamilton) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Meadows Long Term Care Centre in Swift Current, at the age of 85. A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Naicam, where family and friends will celebrate her life.
Marion leaves to cherish her memory, daughter: Janis Gerbrandt, Saskatoon; grandchildren; Amanda (Jeff)Halderman, Jessica (Spencer) Bates, Jennifer Gerbrandt. Daughter: Margaret (Bob) Bowers, Swift Current; grandchildren: Jeff (Lisa) Bowers, Heather (Edwin) Rijvers. Marion also has 11 great grandchildren.
Sisters; Doris Poole, Doreen Christenson, Brenda (Tom) Ferguson, Beverley (Henry) Eichinger, brother Francis (Gladys) Hamilton. Sisters-in-law: Agnes Erfle, Ruby Hamilton; numerous nieces and nephews, and by her caring friend Ken Holland.
She was predeceased by: her parents James and Lisa Hamilton, father and mother in law; James and Elizabeth Hume; her loving husband of nearly 50 years Jim Hume; brother Clifford Hamilton, sister: Florence Morley, brother in law Jim Erfle.
Marion was born in Davidson, SK April 2, 1931. She lived her childhood years in Naicam. She was the fourth oldest of 8 children which included 2 sets of identical twin sisters. After World War II and our veterans returned home, she met James (Jim) Hume. The couple dated for a few years, and were married September 8, 1950. Their daughters Janis and Margaret were both born in Spalding. The family farmed in the area until 1957, when they moved to Coleville, SK where Jim started to work in the oil field, and eventually with Sask. Power. The family would move to Hoosier in 1961 where they remained until retiring to North Battleford in 1979. During their retirement years, both Marion and Jim worked for the Corps Commissionaires. Through the years, Marion enjoyed sewing for family and many friends in her community. She had a love for gardening and took great pride of her beautiful backyard flower garden. Other pass times were knitting, crocheting, playing cards and baking.
After Jim's passing in April 2000, Marion stayed in her home until the spring of 2001 at which time she moved to Swift Current. Marion enjoyed going to the Seniors Center, going out for supper, and being with family. Even though Marion suffered the last number of years with Alzheimers Disease, her true and gentle soul shone brightly through daily.
Marion will be forever missed. Her memory will be ever remembered and cherished by family and friends.
