It is with sadness that the family of Gladys Ryan (nee Brown) of St. John's, formally of Tack's Beach, Placentia Bay, announce her peaceful passing at home on March 25, 2017 at the age of 90 years. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Richard Ryan of St. John's; sisters Sarah, Elsie and Molly; brothers Max, Frank, Edward and Cecil; her parents Henry Cleverly Brown and Annie Brown (Best) of Tack's Beach, Placentia Bay. Gladys touched many hearts and she leaves behind with loving memories her sister and best friend Beatrice Dewling; her 4 children Douglas, Toronto; Tim, Vancouver; Leanne Aylward (Barry) and Sue Taylor (Ron); 3 granddaughters Sarah (Reg), Tiffany (Jon) and Katie (Michael); and 2 great-grandsons Cameron and Ryan. She will be fondly missed by the many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and people she has touched with gentle guidance. We were all blessed to have known her. She was a beautiful and caring person who saw no fault in anyone. Her most devoted passion was for her children and grandchildren and great-grandsons who she loved fearlessly. A special thank you for the beautiful ladies from Eastern Health, Community Rapid Response and Comfort Care Teams who provided exceptional care and respect to our mother and family in our time of need. Cremation has taken place as per Gladys request. A celebration of Gladys life and visitation will take place at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday March 27 and Tuesday March 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday March 29 at 11:30 a.m. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in Gladys memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. "We had a wonderful mother,
one who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine, and her heart was solid gold;
With a smile on her lips, and a twinkle in her eyes.
Always and forever
there is no good bye."
