With Spring now upon us, and the summer so near
Brings back our beach memories, year after year.
The early morning starts, and plenty of food for the day
Not even the dusk, could chase us away.
The beach was Mom’s place, she was always content
It took us awhile to understand, what it truly meant.
She was the Momma bear, with her cubs in the same place
Family meant everything to Mom, it was written on her face.
Then came the grandchildren and the tradition would not fade
As she piled them all in the vehicle, and new memories were made.
The grandchildren often speak, of their favorite memory of Nam
Almost all will say, the rides to the beach in the green van.
Life moves forward, and two long years have now passed
Just one more day on the back shore, is all we would ask.
As the weather warms and the sparkles return to the water
What we would give, to have a day with Mom and her Daughter.
Always missed and never forgotten,
Johnny, Derrick, Vaughan, Sheldon, Blair and Glenn,
All the grandchildren, in-laws, her sister Betty, and Darlene who
now sits beside her.
