Shirley Nicolson, age 88, passed away in Tideview Terrace, Digby on April 25, 2017. Born in Dominion, Cape Breton on August 22, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Martha (Caldwell) MacPherson.
Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Grace United Church in Digby.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Claudia (Mike) Lutz, Digby; sons, John and Donald Nicolson, Halifax; grandchildren, Lyssa (Stephen) McCartney, Dalmellington, Scotland, Craig Lutz (Christa), Lower Sackville, Sophie McConnell (Chris), Dartmouth, great grandchildren, Jack, Olivia and Oliver. Also survived by brothers, Fred (Sydney) MacPherson, Surrey, BC, Blair (Linda) MacPherson, Sydney, NS, Donald MacPherson, Edmonton, AB, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Weldon, and brother, Wallace MacPherson.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Jaynes Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 5 from Grace United Church in Digby. Rev. Alex Constable will preside. Interment at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney, Cape Breton.
