It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Fulmer Harrison, age 90, of Springhill. Norman passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the High Crest Nursing Home.
Born in Athol, NS, he was a son of the late John Fulmer Harrison and Georgie Hill (Morris Harrison) Lodge.
Norman graduated from Springhill High School, taught locally for 3 years, then went on to work with Enheat and Northern Telecom. He had many interests, such as playing 45's, gardening, hiking, traveling, genealogy, and local and global history. He also stayed busy with his blueberry, maple sugar and forestry work.
His memory will be cherished by his children Patricia (Don) Gooding, Donnie (Cathy) Harrison, Betty Harrison, Ruth (John) Whelan and Geraldine (Kevin) Harrison-MacLean; his nine grandchildren Christopher Gooding, Donald Gooding, Matthew Harrision, Charlotte Harrision, Joshua Whelan, Erin Whelan, Meghan Whelan, Mackenzie Rogers, and Emerald Gallant; his five great grandchildren River, Luke, Noah, Anesia and Arrick; his numerous nieces and nephews; and his second wife Margaret (Legere) Harrison.
Norman was predeceased by his wife Joyce Marie (Willigar) Harrison, his daughter Jean Marie Harrison, his brothers George, Arthur, Raymond and Reginald, and his only sister Jennie (Reid).
Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service for Norman will be held at A H Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 2 pm, Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Mapleton Cemetery.
