Katherine Strong
(Fraser) Died peacefully at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on Monday, April 14, 2008, Katherine Strong (Fraser), aged 95 years. Predeceased by her husband Charles Strong (1979), parents Donald and Mary Dawe Fraser of Bay Roberts and her six sisters: Dorothy, Jean, Margaret, Mary, Edyth and Alison. Left with cherished memories are her children: Charlotte (Earle McCurdy) and Rev. William (Lynne); grandchildren: Peter, Ian and Fraser McCurdy and Gillian and Holly Strong; great-grandchild Isaac; brother-in-law Roy Goodwin; and many nieces and nephews and their children. Katherine was blessed with a rich, full life, and maintained a positive outlook and sense of humour to the very end. She found fulfillment both as a mother and grandmother, and through her profession as a psychiatric nurse, administrator, and nursing instructor. She loved her students. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home who cared for her with such loving kindness for the past three years, as if she were their own. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 15, 7 - 9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 16 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Cremation has taken place. The funeral will be held from the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Thursday, April 17 at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road. As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to the St. Patrick's Mercy Home Foundation, the Canadian Mental Health Association, or a charity of one's choice would be gratefully appreciated.
