Ada Belle Searle

Ada Belle Searle, 99, Truro passed away peacefully Dec. 20, 2007 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Ada was born in Dawson Settlement, N.B, the daughter of the late Luther and Isabel (MacPhee) Jonah and at an early age moved to Debert. She was a graduate of Colchester County Academy, Truro and Mount Allison University with her BA and B. Ed. Until her retirement, she taught in numerous schools throughout Nova Scotia. She was a lifetime member of the First United Church, Truro and Unit B of the UCW as well as a member of the University Women’s Club. Ada is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her step-daughter and niece, Norma (Searle) Melchior (Leo), Hilden as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Godfrey Maxwell Searle; brothers, Hazen, Austin, Donald in infancy and sister, Minerva. A celebration of Ada’s life will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. David MacNaughton officiating and Rev. Gordon MacLean assisting, followed by a visitation and reception. Interment in Plains Road Cemetery, Debert.
