Elaine MacLean, 64, Rines Creek, formerly of Truro passed away peacefully at home Feb. 28, 2008 after a brief but courageous struggle with cancer with her husband John and daughter Barb by her side. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Herdman and Marion (MacKay) Clark. Elaine was well known in the craft community of East Hants for her beautiful cross stitching signed as EM. She worked many years at the Dartmouth Regional Library before retiring. An avid animal lover, Elaine leaves behind her three close companions, Ginger, Ozzie, and Winnie, her beloved dogs and the fur gang (four cats). Elaine enjoyed many crafts, puzzle books and spending quality time with her husband, close friends, and her beloved four legged friends. Special thanks are extended to her family doctor, Dr. Hindler,Dr. Henderson, Cathy MacMillan of the palliative care team, and all the VON nurses for their special care, compassion and support during this difficult time. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 25 years, John MacLean; sons Steve (Maureen) Dickens, Greg (Lisa) Dickens; daughter, Barb (Phill Wells) Dickens; sister, Bev (Keith) Melanson; brother, Ron (Brenda) Clark; grandchildren, Jacob, Katrina, Jesse, Rachel, Michael. She will be sadly missed by her family and close personal friends in her community. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow. Rev. Pat Malin officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Truro SPCA.
