William Leonard Fiddes

William Leonard Fiddes, "Bill", 66, of Lower Onslow, passed away May 4, 2007 at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, after a brief illness. Bill was the son of the late Herbert and Ruby (Milligan) Fiddes. Bill was in the trucking business for 50 years, being an owner-operator since 1968, working for various trucking companies. In 1984 he established William Fiddes Trucking, retiring in 2005. Bill was an adherent of the Lower Onslow United Church serving as a choir member and trustee. Bill was an honorary member of the Onslow Belmont Fire Department and volunteered within the community. He loved spending time at his blueberry fields on Folly Mountain. Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Grace (Sprague); daughters, Wendy Waddell, Sarnia, Ont., Sheri (Burris) Fiddes, Masstown, Nancy (Bruce) Adams, Masstown; grandchildren Brett Fiddes, Brianna and Kennedy Burris, Adam and Shawn Waddell, Abigale Adams, and his faithful dog Max. Bill is also survived by brothers Jack (Fran), Robert (Phyllis); sister Judy (Charles) Parlee, all of Lower Onslow; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Myrtle Sprague, Wentworth. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 7, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m. and funeral service Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 2 p.m., all in the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Gerry Kerr officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lower Onslow Clarke Cemetery would be appreciated.
