Agnes Merritt, 96, of Hayward Court Truro, passed away Monday, June 2, 2008 at the QE ll Halifax Infirmary, Halifax. Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Catherine (Kennedy) Hamilton. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Agnes is survived by sons, Jack (Carol) and Kenneth, both of Truro; step-son, William Merritt (Faye), Truro; daughters, A. Laverne Stark, Geary, N.B.; Linda F. Wade (Hugh), Sydney; grandchildren, Karen, Debbie, Heather, Jeffery, David, Donna, Michael, Ricky, Barry, Brian, Cathy, Cindy, Michael Wade, Ernest, Richard and Paul; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Redford; sons, James and Bruce; step-sons, Russell and Lorne; grandchildren, James Stark, Stephen Merritt and Cheryl Merritt; several brothers and sisters. No visitation by request. A private family funeral service for family, close friends and neighbours will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, with Rev. Gordon MacLean officiating. Interment to follow in the Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Alma, Pictou County. Family flowers only.
