Alice Blanche (Mackenzie) Macdonald

Alice Blanche (MacKenzie) MacDonald, age 91, North River, N.S., passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in North River where she lived most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Henry MacKenzie and the late Flora (McNutt) MacKenzie. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and CGIT. She was also a member of Group # 1 Ladies Group and received the Baptist Missionary Dominion Life Membership. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Fred MacDonald; daughter, Cindy Langille (Barry), and son Eugene Whidden; three grandsons, Chris and Ryan Langille and Dale Whidden, and two granddaughters, Susan Dickie and Sonya Shanahan, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband, Roland Whidden; daughter, Maxine Horne; brothers, Ralph, George, and Foster; sisters, Hazel and Florence; and three grandsons, Wade, David and Bradley. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 15, and funeral service 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, Rev. Andy Crowell and Rev. Gordon Delaney officiating, with interment to follow in the Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. Family flowers only, and donations can be made to the First Baptist Church, Truro, or to the Crossroads Cemetery, Valley.
