Alice Scott “Scottie” Hines, 91, Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born Feb. 14, 1916 in Bedlington, Northcumberland, England, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Grainger and Isabel Ann (Houghton) Scott. Alice came to Canada in April 1927 and graduated from Victoria General Hospital in 1939. She retired from the Nova Scotia Sanatorium in 1980, where she had worked as a night supervisor. Alice is survived by daughter, Stella (Gerd) Moritz, Ottawa; sons, Ken, Truro; Roger (Janet), Winnipeg; sister, Stella Grealey, Stellarton; Isabel (Doug) Henderson, Saint John, N.B.; step-brother, Fred (Mary) Hampton, Bible Hill; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Leo; sisters, Lillian Rogers and Dorothy DeCoste; step-father, John Hampton; daughter-in-law, Carol Hines. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, where Alice’s family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m., Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Spring interment will be held in Christ Church Cemetery, Stellarton. Family flowers only.
