
C. Stuart Saunders

C. Stuart Saunders, 84, Truro, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. He was born in Preston, Ont. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War and a member of the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery following the war. In Peterborough, Ont., he worked for the Addiction Services of the Ontario government, moving to Saskatchewan in 1980 to work for the attorney general’s department as co-ordinator of the community training residence. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club and the Golden “K”. Following his retirement, he and his wife, June moved to Truro and have been active members of St. James Presbyterian Church to date. He is survived by his wife, June; son, Bernard and wife Marretje; daughters, Beth Saunders, Carol and husband, Bill Barron; sister, Dorothy Fraser, Sechelt, B.C.; grandsons, Christopher and Marc Saunders, Matthew, Stephen and Sandy Barron, David and Ben Farstad; eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro; memorial service on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. in St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro with Dr. Brian Ross officiating with a reception following the service.
