It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and sister, Clara Rose, on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 in the Northside General Hospital. Born in LaPoile, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Albert and Elsie (Bond) Read. Clara was a very devoted member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church North Sydney, the A.C.W. and the Altar Guild. She was an avid card player and enjoyed the card games with friends at the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners club. Clara is survived by her son Sheldon (Judy), of Truro; granddaughter Andrea, of Halifax, grandson Scott (Iesha), of Rocky Hill Connecticut; sisters, Geraldine (Jack) Harvey and Lorraine (Gerald) Anderson, both of Port aux Basques, Nfld., and Thelma Piccott, of North Sydney. She was predeceased by her husband Wallace, sisters, Mildred and Gertie, and a brother Max. Visitation was held Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, with the Reverend Dennis Hayward officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
