David Roy Clough Sr., 79, North River — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax on Aug. 31, 2008. Born in Quebec on October 4, 1928, he was a son of the late Frank and Alice (Hunter) Clough. “Roy” in his early teens moved out on his own to Toronto where one of his very first occupations was digging ditches and residential wells by hand. Life educated, he quickly graduated to heavy machinery and then long-haul trucking across North America. He married Florence Annie Brown in 1962 and together they created and executed one of Canada’s largest frozen food transportation licences in R. Clough Transport, throughout the 1970s and ’80s. Retirement found them in North River near family and friends where they once also owned/operated the North River Service Station. After Florence passed away in November, 2000, “Pappa” found an autumn love with Leona Deal of Halifax (White’s Lake). He is also survived by his children, Donna, Audra, David, Kevin, Linda; brother, Leslie; sisters, Kaye and Linda; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Annie (Brown); sister, Sheila.
