Cecil Hutchens

June 30, 1921 - May 14, 2008. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, in the presence of his family, former U.S. Army Sergeant and WWII Veteran, Cecil Orlando Hutchens of St. John's, formerly of Hampton, Iowa, USA. Predeceased by his parents: Earl and Frances Hutchens. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 66 years Florence (Lester); daughter Judith Mills (Neville); sons: Donald (Norma), Derrick (Donna), Dwight (Mary Beth), Dale (Lisa); grandchildren: Nadine and Forrest Mills, Karen Hutchens, Andrea Spurrell (Sheldon), Scott Hutchens (Karen), Adam (Courtney), Matthew, David and Nathan Hutchens, Sarah and Catherine Hutchens, Heather Hutchens; great-grandchildren: Joshua Hutchens, Jacob Hutchens, Benjamin Spurrell; sisters and brother and in-laws: Catherine Duckworth (Lawrence), Arlene Willms, Leo Hutchens (Reba), Isabel Conrad, Joan Chapman, Juanita Lester and many nieces, nephews and friends. Life member of the American Legion - Post #9 and the St. John's Elks Lodge #245 and a member of St. Mary's Mens Service Club. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 2-9 p.m. Thursday, then on Friday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. - 12 noon on Saturday. Funeral service to be held from The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Craigmillar Avenue on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at The Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary's Church or a charity of ones choice.
