E. Jean Sampson

E. Jean Sampson, 97, Willow Lodge Home for Special Care, Tatamagouche, passed away Nov. 27, 2008 in the Lodge. Born in French River, Colchester County, she was the daughter of the late J. Walter and Ida Alice (Crowe) Langille. Jean worked at the Atlantic Training Centre in Tatamagouche before moving to Halifax where she met and married her husband, Henry “Harry”. She worked at Dalhousie University, then operated a grocery store in Cape Breton and then moved to Brule where she operated a grocery store until the mid-1980s. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, Branch 64, Tatamagouche, a member of Sharon United Church and the UCW and was secretary for the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Board. Jean is survived by close friends, Reta MacKinnon, Tatamagouche and Janice Jollimore, East Earltown. She was predeceased by her husband Henry “Harry”; infant brother Everette; step-mother Josephine (Byers); half-brother George Langille; half-sister Margaret Torrant. No visitation will be held. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 in Coulter’s Funeral Home (657-3288) 48 Riverside Dr., P.O. Box 190, Tatamagouche, NS, B0K 1V0. Burial will be in Sunnybrae Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to North Shore Health Services Foundation.
