Edna Rose “Dixie” Bennicke, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, in Williams’ Country Home, Hilden. Born Jan. 10, 1914 on College Road, Bible Hill, she was a daughter of the late David and Jane (MacIntyre) Kennedy. She lived all her life in Bible Hill except the past five years where she lived in Parkland Estates and Williams Country Home. She worked at Lewis Hat Factory and Zellers before training as a CNA. She worked as a nurse’s aid for many years at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. She is survived by a daughter Betty (Ted) Stevens North Carolina; sons Donnie (Judy) Bridgewater, David (Shirley), Niagara on the Lake, Dale (Monica), Alton; 12 loving grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold “Dub” Bennicke and great-granddaughter Kristen. She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of fun and humour, a zest for life and “carrying on.” “Love you 17.” As were her wishes she will be cremated and a service will take place at a later date.
