Edward Leroy “Ed” Dennis, 69, of Bible Hill, passed away on Jan. 30, 2008 at home. Born in Green Oaks, he was a son of the late Arthur and Jessie (Collins) Dennis. Ed worked as a heavy equipment operator all of his working life, and ran his own excavation business, Ed Dennis Backhoe and Trucking, for many years. He is survived by his former wife, Joan (Whidden) Johnston, Mattatal Lake; daughter Susan Dennis, Cayman Islands; sons, Peter Dennis, Calgary, Alta.; Rodney (Margie) Dennis, Great Village; grandchildren, Brian, Jessica, Gelisa, Amanda, Jennifer and Dustin; great-grandson, Brody; brothers, Leonard (Rae), Truro; Clarence (Brenda), Truro; Robert, Glenholme; sister, Marion (Nelson) Fraser, B.C. Besides his parents, Ed was predeceased by two sons, Randy and Eddie. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Rev. Don MacQueen officiating.
