EILEEN ISABEL HAMILTON, 76, Truro, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by her loving family. Born Oct. 6, 1931 in West Branch, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Josie (MacIntosh) Graham. In her early years, Eileen worked at the telephone office and then spent her time as a homemaker and raising her family. She later worked with the federal government (Statistics Canada & Canada Pension Office). Eileen dearly loved her family and took special joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She really enjoyed travel and looked forward to renewing many friendships during their winters away in Zephyrhills, Florida. As summer neared, she was eager to start her garden and spend time at the cottage in Malagash. When at home in Truro, she enjoyed visiting friends and playing cards. Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Douglas; sons, Alan (Wanda), Riverview, N.B.; Ross (Lorene), Bible Hill; daughters, Sharon (Glen) Smith, Halifax; Sandra (Richard) Hunt, Salmon River; grandchildren, Erin, Kyle, Sean, Todd, Douglas, Alan, Monica, Sean and James; brothers, Lloyd (Alta) Graham, Truro; Carl (Lynn) Graham, Moose Jaw, Sask.; sisters, Jean Staples, Truro; Vivian (Royce) MacKay, Ontario; Pearl (Derek) Piers, Brule Shore. She was predeceased by her brother, William in infancy; sisters, Elizabeth Morrison and Margaret Wallace. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, where Eileen's family will receive friends from 2 to 4, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, Reverend Donald Sutherland officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Spring interment in West Branch Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Eileen's memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, MS Society of Nova Scotia or Arthritis Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
