Elmer Byron Wallace

Elmer Byron Wallace, 92, Lower Truro Road, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in North Salem, Hants County, he was a son of the late Creighton and Ellen (Cameron) Wallace. He was the last surviving member of his family. He worked for the Town of Truro as a grader operator until his retirement in 1980. Elmer was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, McClure’s Mills and a member of the Good Times Senior Citizen’s Club. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Bass River where he had many friends. He loved to dance, play cards and enjoyed baseball, especially the Toronto Blue Jays. Elmer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was faithfully devoted to his family, always interested in what they were doing. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Bonita (Lorne) Cox, Truro; son Jon “Jack” (Brenda), Hatchet Lake; grandchildren, Necole (Andrew) Stevens, Greenfield Road, Laura Lee (Shawn) Stewart, North River, Noel Cox (Angela MacLennan), Truro, Catherine (Guy) Staples, Onslow, Allan Wallace (Janine), Summerside, P.E.I.; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Noah, Sahara, Kassandra and Garnet; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Mildred (Smith); sister, Georgia; brothers, Merle, Allan and twins, Lawrence and Kenneth. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a funeral service on Monday, April 7 at 1 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Dr. Brian Ross officiating. Interment in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village. Family flowers only. Donations in Elmer’s memory may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, McClure’s Mills or a charity of choice.
