SARAH ANNE JONES December 12, 1914 - January 17, 2009 At the age of 94, Sal left this world on January 17, 2009, at 12:30 a.m. while vacationing in Mexico. She passed away with her only son and his wife at her side. She is survived by her son Dr. Brian Jones (Mary); her wonderful grandchildren, Yvonne, Rebecca (Todd), Byron (Stacey), David (Denine); and three great grandchildren, Matthew Hamilton, Pearce and Tyler Targerson-Jones. Along her life's journey Sal acquired numerous nieces, nephews, step-children and step-grandchildren both in the United Kingdom and Canada. She was born Sarah Anne Moses in Aberdare, Wales, to Anne and David Moses. Anne was a healer and midwife while David tended the family farm. Sarah left the farm to pursue a life long career with the British Royal Navy. Sal was an office manager with the Admiralty during the dawning days of the computer age. She loved to share stories of all the visiting dignitaries. Sarah married Thomas Jones, an English professor and gymnastics coach at a private school. She gave birth to her beloved son Dr. Brian Jones in 1936. Her son Brian and his family immigrated to Canada in 1970, to work as a family physician in Swift Current. Although filled with immense pride in her son, his leaving left an emptiness in her heart over the years. She kept in contact with cards, letters, phone calls and visits. Once widowed for some time Sal found love again with her second husband Gwynne, a retired headmaster at a private boy's school. Over the next 20 years they traveled the world together to exotic locations such as China, Australia and throughout Europe. When Gwynne's health took a turn for the worst, Sal nursed him independently at home until his death. In 2007, she moved to Canada to live with her son and his wife. Sal loved and enjoyed robust health until her demise. She was an avid reader who always wanted to expand her mind. Sal loved posh dinner parties, flower gardening, fashion, polite conversation, social gathering and ballroom dancing. Once in Swift Current, Sal took pleasure in her vigorous workouts at Body Fit Gym with Yvonne and Brian. She found the staff encouraging and helpful. She loved her weekly trips to the hairdresser where Helen and Rhonda would work their magic. Sal could be seen at the side of the basketball court or at the hockey arena cheering her great grandsons, Matthew and Pearce. Our grandmother will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was cremated in Mexico, January 17, and a small church ceremony was held the following day. Once Sal's remains are brought to Canada another service will be held.
