Rosamond Jean Calder

Passed on: March 11th, 2008

Aged 88 years passed away at Gables Lodge on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, with her family by her side. She was a daughter of the Late Leslie and Vira (Higgins) Doncaster. Rosamond spent most of her working years at the IWK Hospital, Halifax, until her retirement at age 65. She was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church; Pythian Star Temple # 8, Pythian Sisters; Senior Citizens Group and Bowling League. She also kept very active enjoying card parties, music, fishing, sewing, knitting and driving her car. Rosamond is survived by two daughters, Susan (Fred) Priest, Great Village, and Betty (Cyril) Bayers, Halifax; three grandchildren, Angela (Bayers) Stone, Cathy (Priest) Vanzeumeren and Tim Priest; as well as five great grandchildren, Scott, Courtney, and Haley Stone and Emma and Ben Vanzeumeren. Playtime at the beach, parks, etc. was always fun with Nana Calder. (Hugs for Nana!) (Always young at heart!); she is also survived by brother, Allan Doncaster; sisters, Betty Dernier and June Henwood. She was predeceased by beloved husband William "Willy"; son, Alexander "Sandy"; brother, Gordon Doncaster. There was no visitation by request. A Memorial Funeral Service was held 2:00 pm, Friday, March 14, 2008 from A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, with The Reverend Perry Hanley officiating, followed by a reception. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date. No flowers please, if so desired, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
