Passed on: March 30th, 2008

BROWN - John Austin Wesley October 3, 1926 - March 30, 2008 John Austin Wesley Brown was born on October 3, 1926 in Massachusetts to Austin Brown and Elva Wiles and he came to Canada as a small child. John had a brother Bob and a sister Joyce. John's mother passed away when he was three years old and he then went on to live with Mumsie and Papa Wiles on the farm in Lake Lenore until he was 7. These were very fond and memorable years and he spoke of them often. John worked hard all of his life, he was employed at the brewery and as a pen guard and lastly for the City of Prince Albert where he enjoyed working and later retired from. Earlier on, John worked as a truck driver. That job brought him to Hoey, Sask. where he met the love of his life Lucille. They spent 53 years together and had four children, Duwayne, Randy, Karen and Brian. John enjoyed working in the garage and on the vehicles. He was always double checking to make sure the car was just right to his standards. John and Lucille would take their grandchildren for drives to the parks when they were young. This was enjoyed by Carla, Michael and Shauna. Together they traveled in their small motor home. They enjoyed the scenery and the wild life they came upon. They enjoyed traveling to see family in BC, Thompson and Calgary. John and Lucille spent time enjoying many meals at both Zellers and Jr's Diner and they both enjoyed the company of the staff and eating out. Due to ailing health and after the passing of John's dear and devoted wife, he found a new home with very caring and compassionate people at the Herb Bassett Home. John felt fortunate to have Randy, Helga and Shauna so close by and he lit up when they came to visit. His daughter Karen from Calgary came to visit him as often as she could. These visits were also a treasure to him and something he very much looked forward to. He always enjoyed the outings and listening to country music. His favorites were having coffee in the cafeteria and sitting outside in the summer months. He always enjoyed being in the outdoors. He also enjoyed the many treats that family would bring in, and the turkey dinners on holidays. We will all miss John's stories and joking ways as John always had a joke or a story to share when visiting with family. John was always happy to have family with him and he enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an easy man to please and was happy with company and a cup of coffee. On March 30, 2008 in the wee hours of the morning, John left us suddenly to rejoin his wife Lucille in heaven. John will be sadly missed by his son Randy (Helga) Brown and granddaughter Shauna of Prince Albert; his daughter Karen (Allen) Dyck and grandchildren Jason Dyck of Calgary and Justin Spero of Edmonton; son-in-law Gordon Barnett and grandchildren Michael Barnett and Carla Snow and his three great grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his loving wife Lucille; parents Austin and Elva Brown; sister Joyce Walls; brother Robert Brown; son Brian and daughter Duwayne. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 - 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK, with Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau officiating.
