SHIELLS - Geraldine "Sookie" Marie July 16, 1932 - April 16, 2008 Our beloved Geraldine "Sookie" Shiells passed away peacefully on April 16, 2008 at the Victoria Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, she was 75 years old. Sookie will lovingly remain in the hearts of her husband Jack; daughters Brenda (Herbert) Urton and Susan (Bud) Johnston; six grandchildren Vanessa, Andrew, William, Jonathon, Teresa and Alex and many more dear family members and friends. Sookie was the last surviving member of the Vanden Ham family. She was predeceased by her twin sister Alberta "Bertie" Nunn; sisters Gertruda and Elsie; brothers Bill and Harry and her parents William and Wilhelmina. In her younger years Sookie enjoyed curling, traveling and camping. She also worked alongside her husband Jack at P.A. Electric Contractors, retiring 20 years ago and then spending many winters together in Mexico and Arizona. Sookie met her life-long soul mate at 16 years of age at Waskesiu and they were married for almost 54 years. Waskesiu has continued to be a special place for Sookie, spending many wonderful summers with her family there. Sookie enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, knitting, creating a warm home and most importantly being with her family. Sookie brought love, care and joy wherever she went. She had a gift of finding something positive and encouraging to say that would make you feel so good inside. Sookie also had a special way with children and is very close to each of her grandchildren. She always listened to others and took a keen interest in what they were doing. Sookie will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 12th Street and 1st Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK, with Reverend Dr. R.M.A. Sandy Scott officiating.
