THOMAS HENRY Currie passed away on Dec 19, 2008 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Sk. Tom was born on Dec 19, 1920, on the farm at Glamis, Sk. He was the youngest son and the last surviving member of a family of 4 boys and 4 girls. His parents Jim and Mabel Currie came from Ayr, Ont. to homestead at Glamis..%C2%A0 During the depression, Tom and his father went north to the Torch River area to try a homestead there.%C2%A0 Tom learned to love the northern country but returned home and enlisted in the army with his brother Arnold.%C2%A0 They both went overseas and Tom saw action though many countries and campaigns.%C2%A0 When the war ended, Tom found work in Regina where he met his first wife, Isabel Wilkinson.%C2%A0 They moved back to the Glamis area where he was employed as an elevator agent at Forgan.%C2%A0 They eventually bought a farm in the area and began to raise a family. Beverlee and Barbara were born, and then 7 years later, the much hoped for son Brian. Tom farmed with his oldest brother Elmore.%C2%A0 In the winter he enjoyed curling, travelling throughout the area to bonspiels with three friends and, as he told it, winning most of them.. Tom also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He coached baseball and hockey, and took part in many community events. He was a long time Legion member and was still an active member of the Lions at the time of his passing.%C2%A0 Tom and his family left the farm in 1962 and moved to Nipawin where he went into business with his brother Arnold running Currie's Marine Service.%C2%A0 He eventually went to work travelling for Mercury Marine and then moved to Prince Albert where he was employed at Athabaska Airways as an airplane mechanic.%C2%A0 He got to travel to the Arctic working on planes, and loved to tell anyone who would listen, about these trips. He met his second wife , Frances Wiggins, in Prince Albert, and they made their home at Christopher Lake. They enjoyed golfing and entertaining friends and family there until it became too difficult to maintain a house and yard. They then moved to a suite at the Seniors Manor in the village and were still living there when Tom passed away. Tom enjoyed life to the fullest and had a vast and varied circle of friends though his life.%C2%A0 He maintained contact with the veterans from his army division.%C2%A0 He only missed two reunions as they were one of his most important events of the year. He loved attending family functions and especially enjoyed golfing with his nephews and family whenever he could.%C2%A0 He had an endless supply of stories to tell, sometimes adjusting them to keep the audience interested. Tom is survived by his wife Frances,and her children, Bill (Karen), Beryl (Rodney), Sylvia (Ralph), Dale (Vicki), Gladys (Monty).%C2%A0 Tom's children Beverlee (Garry), Barbara (Dennis), Brian (Lorraine).%C2%A0 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.%C2%A0Funeral arrangements in care of MacKenzie Funeral Home, Prince Albert, SK 763-8488
