Born: January 29th, 1935

Passed on: January 15th, 2009

Lummerding - Arthur Otto Art passed away suddenly at the Victoria Union Hospital January 15, 2009. He was born January 29, 1935 in Leofeld, SK and grew up on the family farm in the St. Brieux district. Dad met Gertrude Sawilla in Regina in 1959 and they were married November 25, 1961. Mom and Dad lived in several communities before settling in St. Louis. Dad worked for many years for the provincial government first as a project coordinator for the Department of Northern Saskatchewan then took a transfer to Regina in 1983. In 1990, Mom and Dad moved back to St. Louis and resided there until his passing. Art enjoyed woodworking and was a "carpenter by trade", and built their home in St. Louis "with his own hands". Art enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family until poor health took over. He was very active in the community, serving on the church counsel, Knights of Columbus, and being part of the Seniors Club. When Dad was feeling well, he enjoyed bowling on the Seniors Bowling Team and having coffee with his friends at the local coffee shop. Art was predeceased by his parents, John and Hedwig Lummerding, his parents-in-law Hilda and Franz Sawilla, 2 brothers Victor and Richard, sister Caroline, and several brothers-in-law. Art is survived by his loving wife Gertrude of St. Louis, SK, and children: John (Linda) Ashley, Chantal and Gerald; Bernadette (Glenn Leuschen) Scott, Matthew, Michael, Steven and Mitchell; Paul (Julie) Carlene, Aliya and Daniel; Rosalie (Jason Wudrick) Mercedes, Tyson and Jeremy, all of Saskatoon. Many thanks to the Hemodialysis Unit at the Victoria Union Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital, Dr. Barton, Dr. Plypchuk, Dr. Basran and Dr. Egbyami who worked hard to look after dad over the last few years. In lieu of flowers the family requests you to make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Renal Unit at the Victoria Union Hospital, Prince Albert. Funeral arrangements pending. Arrangements entrusted to Kushneryk Funeral Home, Wakaw.
