Arthur "Art" 1935 2009 Arthur Art Hauser

Passed on: January 15th, 2009

HAUSER - Arthur "Art" (1935 - 2009) Arthur (Art) Hauser, age 73, passed away quietly on January 15th, 2009 at the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Albert due to complications from diabetes. Born in Komorow, Poland, Art came to Canada with his family in 1948, starting off in Rabbit Lake SK, and becoming a Canadian citizen in 1959. Married in Meadow Lake in January 1955 to Veronica (Bauman), they settled in North Battleford and started their family. Art worked hard and rose through many positions at Standard Mineral Waterworks, the local Coca-Cola bottler. In 1965, Art seized the opportunity to pursue his dream of owning his own Coca-Cola bottling business, and purchased P.A. Bottlers. Moving the family to Prince Albert, he spent the next 43 years of his life growing the business, investing in many other ventures and opportunities, all the while supporting the community he grew to love. Known to be rather unassuming, he quietly shared by giving back to his community through generous donations to worthy causes. Over the years, he received many awards and recognitions such as the Samuel McLeod Legacy Award, a Lifetime Chamber Membership and most recently, he was honoured to be named Prince Albert's Citizen of the Year (2008). Art is survived by Veronica; their children Marc (Charlene), Lynn-Ann (Braddock Koch), Brent (Janet) and Cary (Susan); grandchildren Marlaina, Jordan, Evan, Matthias, Bethany, Thomas and Anne; his brother Ben (Sharon) Hauser; brother-in-law Murray Williams; nieces and nephews (Brenda, Sandra, Warren, Darren, and Derek) and Art also leaves his companion, Sylvia Blocka to mourn his passing, along with their 3 dogs. He treasured the many dogs they had over the years, starting with the first puppy acquired at a memorable Ducks Unlimited Fundraiser Auction. Art was predeceased by his father Alexander who passed away before the family came to Canada; his mother Martha (nee Kuffert) and his younger sister Gertrude (Williams). Many thanks are given to the caring doctors and nurses, numerous good friends, and the hard-working and diligent staff at P.A. Bottlers. Honoring Art's wishes, there will be a Private Funeral Service and interment officiated by Pastor Dennis Serfas, Director Spiritual Care, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region. A Memorial Service and Tribute including a celebration of Art's Citizen of the Year Award presented by the Prince Albert Kinsmen Club and Prince Albert Daily Herald, open to the public, will occur on January 29th at 7:00 pm in the Ches Leach Lounge at The Art Hauser Center. Those wishing to make memorial donations in lieu of other tributes may do so to the Victoria Hospital Foundation. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
