STELLARTON – On December 11, 2007, Laura Veronica (Ryan) MacDonald, Stellarton, passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital after a brief Illness. Born in Mulgrave on October 19, 1920, Mum was the daughter of Clement and Bridget (Watt) Ryan. Loved and admired by daughters, Gail Meikle of Stellarton, Valerie (Greg) MacDonald and Jennifer (Ross) MacDonald, both of Kings Head. She will be deeply missed by grandchildren, her "boys": Darren (Cheryl) Scott of Ottawa, Gavin Scott of Stellarton, Drew (Celeste) Meikle of Edmonton, Ian MacDonald and Colin MacDonald, both of Halifax, and her "darling girls", Lauralee Meikle of Thailand, Alexandra MacDonald of Truro and Meridith MacDonald of Halifax. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Simone and Mark Scott of Stellarton and Brett, Jay and Todd Cochrane of Ottawa. She was especially proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought such great joy to her life. Mum will be lovingly remembered for her great sense of humour and the ability to make all around her feel very special. A proud member of the Ryan clan of Mulgrave. She is survived by sisters, Theresa MacDonald of North Sydney, and Joan (George) Hurry of Ottawa and brothers, Eric (Anna) Ryan and Foster (Jean) Ryan, both of Mulgrave, Robert (Jean) Ryan of North Sydney; numerous nieces and nephews and cousin, Winnie MacDonald of Stellarton. Besides her parents, Mum was predeceased by husband, George (Bud) MacDonald; infant son, Joel; great-grandson, James Meikle; brothers and sister, Earl (Irene), Aileen (John) Power, Miles (Annie), James (Sylvia); son-in-law, Jim Meikle, and brother-in-law Hugh (Sonny) MacDonald. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Name Church, Main St., Westville, at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007, with a celebration of Mum's life immediately following at Summer Street Industries, New Glasgow. Funeral arrangements under the direction of H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. No visitation by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or charity of choice.
