NEW GLASGOW - Alexina "Lexi" Rose MacDonald, age 87, of 227 Little Harbour Road, New Glasgow, and formerly of Thorburn, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at home. Born on Pictou Island, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Charlotte (MacLean) MacDonald. Lexi was a resident of Thorburn most of her life having moved to New Glasgow in 1981. She was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. Lexi enjoyed knitting as a pastime and also keeping in touch with friends. Surviving are her son, Rev. Dr. L. George Macdonald of Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, John Harris Macdonald; brothers: Henry, Frank and Logan. Cremation has taken place. A public memorial service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. from the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King Street, New Glasgow with Rev. Richard Sand officiating. A reception will follow. By request of the deceased the family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Friday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home. A private committal service will take place in the Thorburn Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lexi may be made to the CNIB or to the Pictou County SPCA.
