Graham, Alfred George 'Red', 78 of 17 Ninth Street, Trenton passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow on September 22, 2007. Born in Sheet Harbour on August 11, 1929, he was a son of the late George and Ethel(Dort)Graham. Alf completed his Machinist Trade at Maritime Steel. He worked as the underground supervisor of repairs at the Wabana Iron Ore Mine in Newfoundland and subsequently worked many years as the Supervisor of the Wheel and Axle Department at Trenton Works until his retirement at age 59. In his younger years, he excelled at playing pool and enjoyed playing cards. He was an avid Maple Leaf and Blue Jays fan. In his later years he was a fixture at the local drive-in theatre and enjoyed meeting and talking over old times with his friends at the local mall. Surviving him are his loving wife of 58 years, Helen (Robson), his loyal daughter Sandra (Darryl) Farrell, proud sons Kenneth, Stephen and Russell, grandchildren Drew (Kaitlin), Angela, Justin, Liam, Megan, and Danielle, great-grandchildren Nadia, Jax and Oliver and his youngest sister Florence MacLeod. Alfie was predeceased by his parents, a brother Kenneth, adopted brother Arnold Dort, sister Bertha Beaudoin and her husband Johnny as well as by his daughter in infancy Rheta Lorraine. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or memorial service at the request of the family. A public graveside committal service will be held at a later date at Hillside Cemetery in Trenton. Donations in memory of Alfie may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
