Alice Clara Elizabeth Hill

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Alice Clara Elizabeth Hill, of Elgin, Pictou Co., NS, who passed away peacefully Friday, June 15th, 2007, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in White Head, Guysborough Co., March 25th, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John and Lydia (Rhynold) Jones of Stormont, Guysborough Co. Alice was a member of St. Columba United Church, Hopewell. She was a lifetime member of the Golden Links U. C. W. She was captain of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Hopewell Area, for a number of years and was involved with the Christmas Boxes for Operation Christmas Child. She spent her time doing anything she could for her family and friends and was always there for whatever we needed. She will be sadly missed by daughters, Marlene (Lloyd) Hoeg, New Glasgow; Alice (Garfield) Nicholson, Stellarton; sons, Edward (Tanya) Hill, Hopewell; Douglas (Holly) Hill, Morinville, Alberta; sisters, Mary (Jim) Rhynold, and Carolyn (Ernest) Cameron, both of Country Harbour, Guysborough County; brother, John Jones, Grande Prairie, Alberta; many nieces and nephews; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; special friend, George Zinck, Hopewell. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Hill; son, Donald Hill; daughters, Frances and Noreen Hill; sister, Shirley MacIntosh; one granddaughter, Rickimarie Hill, and one great-granddaughter, Keelyn Fraser. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday in the H. C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday from St. Columba United Church, Hopewell, with Pastor Michael Simmons officiating. Cremation to follow the service. Burial of ashes will be held in the Glen Bard Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Alice's memory may be made to Aberdeen Hospital Palliative care Society, St. Columba United Church, Hopewell, or a charity of one's choice.
