Mom died following a long illness in Hamilton, Ontario, on 16 April, 2007. She was in her 87th year. Mom will be sadly missed by her sons, daughter-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was born and raised in Abney, PEI but moved to Pictou where she married Lorin Lewis in 1937. Dad died suddenly in 1960 after which she moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she met her second husband, Donald Fisher. They married in 1983, moved to PEI for a number of years and then returned to Hamilton to live out their golden years. Mom enjoyed life to the fullest, was a proud Maritimer, could sew up a storm and knew how to "stretch the dollar". Hockey was her passion. She was not to be disturbed when her team, Toronto Maple Leafs were playing! Mom was predeceased by her parents, William and Harriet White, Abney, PEI; first husband, Lorin Lewis, Pictou, NS; second husband, Donald Fisher, Hamilton, Ont.; sisters: Mildred (Dan), Lucy (Earl), Minnie (Vincent), Eva (Oriol); brothers, Herman (Laura), Ray (Lena), Oliver (Eva). She is survived by sons, William (Eleanor) Lewis, Hamilton, Ont.; Garry (Mary) Lewis, Caribou Island, NS; grandchildren: Kimberly, Cynthia, Wendy, Lorin, Michael, Greg and David; great-grandchildren: Kristina, Leah, Nolan, Samantha and Madison and her loving brother, Bill (Ellen) White, of Pictou, who she enjoyed such a special relationship with; her best friend of 72 years, June (Hooper) Dropko, will certainly miss their daily chats. Visitation will take place in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, Saturday, April 28, at 1 p.m. to be followed by a celebration of her life at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity officiating. Burial will follow in the Haliburton Cemetery. Donations to the Kidney Society or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
