NEW GLASGOW - Bertha Mae Grant, age 95 of Northwood Manor, Halifax and formerly of MacLean Street, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully with her niece Kathy at her side on May 13, 2007 in Northwood Manor, Halifax. Born in Lourdes, she was a daughter of the late William and Katherine (Campbell) Smith. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Bertha is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; a son, Buddy; sisters: Katherine Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Mary Moore; a brother, William Smith. Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Francis Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family would like to thank Highcrest Place, Parkland Estates and Northwood Manor for their care and kindness over the past several years. Thanks to Andrea Taylor for her heart warming visits with her three beautiful daughters. Special thanks to nieces Sheila Ferguson and Katherine Mahar for their tender and loving guardianship of Bertha over the last number of years.
