PICTOU - Catherine Elizabeth "Kay" Jewers. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Kay on July 5, 2007, at home. Born July 13, 1927, in Toney River, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Janie Henderson. Kay could be found anywhere within a 100 mile radius of the sound of a fiddle. She loved kicking up her heels to a jig, especially at one of "Johnnie's Dances." She enjoyed walking the Jitney Trail, and spending time in her beloved home town of Pictou, especially at Sharon's Place, and playing crib at New Horizons. She spent her final day on Simpson's Beach with her family, enjoying the summer sun. She is survived by daughters, Diane (Leon) Teal, Trenton; Heather (John) Lynch, Loch Broom; Cathy (Reg Daley) Ryan, Westville; Donna (Jim) Jamieson, Bedford; grandchildren: Tanya, Stephanie, Ruth, Rodney, Brandon, Tammy, Christopher, Jonathan; and great-grandchildren: Caleb, Miriam, Eden, Keigan, Nora, Chelsea, Leah. Also surviving are best friend, Doug Graham, Pictou; sisters, Gladys Battist, Lyons Brook; Jean Langille, Pictou; Marion (Lloyd) Palmer, PEI; and brothers, Wilbert (Della) and Johnnie (Marie), both from Toney River. She was predeceased by a brother, Fred; and granddaughter, Heidi Jamieson. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday from the Trenton Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Leon Teal officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. Interment will be in the Riverbank Cemetery, Toney Mills. Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Seafoam Community Hall.
