David Johnstone Chabassol

David Johnstone Chabassol, 84, at The Lodge at Broadmead, Victoria, BC, October 12, 2007. Born in Westville, NS, to Hippolyte and Jean (Johnstone) Chabassol, David was the youngest of a family of seven. Left to remember him are wife, Jean (Nicholson); son, Mark; daughter, Alison; sister, Edna MacLeod; five nieces, three nephews and sister-in-law, Jean Chabassol. David, Professor Emeritus, University of Victoria, taught for 29 years in the Faculty of Education. In earlier years, he taught all grades in a country school after graduating from Pictou Academy. His war work included a year at the Pictou Shipyard and service as an officer in the Infantry. Training for the Pacific in Georgia, USA, was halted by the end of the war. After university at Acadia, McGill and Toronto, he taught for four years at Pictou Academy. He then studied at the University of Alberta on a Kellogg scholarship and earned a Ph.D. in psychology. His research was on adolescents. A memorial service was held October 19, 2007 at St. Aidan's United Church, 3703 St. Aidan's Street, Victoria, BC. Interment at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Baddeck Forks, NS.
