Dora Elizabeth Turnbull

STELLARTON - Dora Elizabeth Turnbull, 79, passed away February 19th, 2007, peacefully in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by family. Born in Stellarton, she was the eldest daughter of the late A. Raymond and Grace (MacDonald) Sloan. A lifelong resident of Stellarton, she moved to Townsview Estates, Truro in 2006. She retired as a teacher from the Stellarton School system in 1985. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton and Harmony Chapter No. 25, Order of the Eastern Star having served as Worthy Grand Matron of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, O.E.S. 1990. She is survived by daughter; Donna (Ernie) Richard, Red Deer, AB; sons, Alan (Cathy), Cairo, Egypt; Bruce (Alena), Truro; grandchildren: Kevin Turnbull, Craig Richard, Geoffrey Turnbull, Chad Richard, Stephanie Turnbull, and Melissa (Dave) MacLean; two great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Mary) Sloan, New Glasgow; sisters, Helen (Stan) Flowers, ON; and Viola (Donald) MacLean, Stellarton; sisters-in-law, Doris and Joyce Sloan; brother-in-law, Robert (Mary) Turnbull, New Glasgow; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Chester in 1988, her parents, and brothers, Daniel and George (Bud). The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Townsview Estates and the Palliative Care Unit for their excellent care and compassion. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment to follow at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
