The death of Earle Fraser Horne, 95 years, of Alexander St, New Glasgow, occurred Saturday, December 8, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born May 20, 1912, in Fraser’s Mountain, he was a son of the late David Marshall Horne of Alma and the late Laura Sinclair Fraser of Bridgeville. Educated in New Glasgow schools, he was a graduate of the old Maritime School of Business. He was a member of the R.C.A.F, Masonic Lodge and Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. Most of his working career was in the construction industry and for the last 25 years of his career, he was office manager for MacDougall Construction Limited of New Glasgow. He was an avid gardner, knitter and bridge player. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Alan, daughter-in-law, Linda and grandson, Mark, sister, Verna and brother, David Cecil Horne. He is survived by his wife of 63 years the former Edna Ross Grant; son, Bruce (Terry), Sinclair’s Island; sister, Irene, New Glasgow; grandsons, Christopher (Mallory), Fraser’s Mountain; Brian (Lauren), Pennsylvania; granddaughters: Erin, Elaine and Allison, Halifax; daughter-in-law, Joyce, New Glasgow. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday in Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Richard Sand officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Linda and Mark Horne Memorial Fund at Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
