
Francis Raphael "Ray" Savage

TRURO – Francis Raphael “Ray” Savage, Truro, formerly of 17 St. Bernard Street, Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. He was the son of the late William and Margaret (Mahoney) Savage. He was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Parish. He was past president of the Lourdes Holy Name Society. He worked for 30 years for the Acadia Coal Company as a STN Engineer and 18 years with the Department of Public Works, New Glasgow. He was a 35 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion having served five years overseas with the Canadian Army. He belonged to Branch No.26, Truro. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are daughters, Margaret, Truro; Beverly Childers (Larry), Florida; grandsons, Bill Dargavel (Carla), and Dan Dargavel; great-grandchildren, Kristen and Sophia . He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Denise; three sisters, Anna, Irene and Virginia; two brothers, Bill and Dan. There will be no visitation by request. Memorial Mass to be held 2 p.m., Saturday, January 5, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton, Father Bill Rankin officiating, with burial to be held in the parish cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses.
