Frederick Lewis Fraser
Born: February 8th, 1925
Garden of Eden – Frederick Lewis Fraser, born February 8, 1925, in Garden of Eden, died at home on March 5th, 2008, at the age of 83. He was the youngest son of the late Andrew and Christena (Sutherland) Fraser. His family home was his lifelong residence. Fred married Edna Archibald on September 27, 1950. Together they were parents to: Ronald (Glenda), David (Heather), Karen, Milton (Jeannette) and other daughter, Val. He was a proud grandfather to: Mark, Mike (Renee), Joel (Rebecca), Daniel, Zachary (Suzanne), Jessica, Kyle and Hannah. He was great-grandfather to Kareck, Nicholas “Nick”, Olivia and Ryley. He was predeceased by his brother, Gordon (1999), and a sister and granddaughter in infancy. He is survived by sisters-in-law: Theresa Fraser, Margaret Cleveland, Marie Illsley, Elsie (George) MacDonald, and Vi (Scott) Fraser. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Fred was a carpenter by trade and retired from the Robert Higgins Company in 1990. Over the years he worked the land, farming, and as a grower of Christmas trees and wild blueberries. Active in the community, he was a member, served on the Board of Managers and elder of Blair Presbyterian Church, involved in the Garden of Eden Community Club, served for many years as secretary-treasurer of the Garden of Eden Cemetery and member of Gladstone L.O.L. He served as Municipal County Councilor and as a Commissioner of Oaths. He enjoyed playing cards, and the weekly card parties at the East River St. Mary’s Fire Hall. Fred loved his family, church and community. He took pride in the workmanship of his hands and in the wonder of God’s creation “up on the hill”. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Family and friends will join for visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Blair Presbyterian Church, Garden of Eden with Rev. Calvin Crichton officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Eden Cemetery.
