ELMFIELD - Violet Gertrude MacLeod, March 30, 1912 - June 17, 2007. It is with deep regret and sorrow that we announce the death of Violet Gertrude MacLeod, on Sunday, June 17, 2007, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. She was the daughter of the late Alexander David and Jessie Ann (MacTavish) MacKenzie of Three Brooks. An active participant in her community, Gertie was a member and choir member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn, a life member of the AMS, and past Noble Grand of Bethel Rebekah Lodge No. 96, Scotsburn. She was also a charter member of the Elmfield Home and School Association. Together with her husband, they raised their family in Elmfield. For the past year and a half she had been a resident of Townsview Estates in Truro. Surviving are Gertie's daughter, Evelyn Fraser (late Rev. Gordon Fraser), and her children, Bruce (Kerry), and their daughter Camryn of Dartmouth, Jamie of Montreal and Hector (Kelley) of Grand Lake; Gertie's son, Blair (Janet), Elmfield, and their children, Rob (Stacey) and their children Robert and Ian, Campbell Hill; Gail (Chris) Horne, and their children, Jami and Cassie, Windsor; Gertie's son, Ivan (Peggy), Truro, and their daughter, Jennifer, New Glasgow; Gertie's son, James (Gail), and their son, Garth, Vancouver, B.C.; Gertie's daughter, Elna (Richard) Innis, and their daughters, Krista and Jessica, Cambridge. She was predeceased by her husband, George Robert MacLeod, in 1978, also close friend, Don Munroe in 2005. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Thursday in Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn, with Rev. Lara Scholey officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association or Bethel Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
