SCOTSBURN – Gordon Scott Muir, 88, Scotsburn, peacefully passed away in the evening of Dec 13, 2007, at the Maritime Odd Fellows Home in Pictou, NS. Gordon was born on May 13, 1919, in New Glasgow to the late Matthew and Vera (Scott) Muir. Gordon was loved by so many for his endless ability to bring a smile to anyone at anytime, and never forgetting a face. He was a stellar community worker and volunteer, a member of the Masonic Lodge, the International Order of Odd Fellows, the Scotsburn Fire Department, Scouts Canada and a very proud Overseas Veteran of World War II who served in the medical core. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #16, Pictou. Gordon could be found continuing his medical core service by tirelessly caring for family and friends, ensuring their well being, even bringing them to various doctor’s appointments no matter who or where they were. Gordon will also be remembered by many for his general store in Scotsburn, the L.P. Trading Company, and his longtime service at the Scotsburn Dairy. Gordon is survived by his sister, Eileen Graham (Scotsburn); two sons: Robert (Wabush), Gary (Westville); four grandchildren: Robbie and Angela (St John’s), Lee (Sean) (Dartmouth), Greig (Westville); three great-grandchildren, Cole, Jachob and Piper, along with many nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife and soul-mate, Marion (Greig) Muir, and his brother, Norman Muir. There will be visitations on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Eagles Funeral Home in Westville. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #16, Pictou, will conduct a service at 4:15 on Sunday at the Funeral Home. Funeral will be held on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Scotsburn United Church. Donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.
