SEAL COVE, NF - Hugh Anthony MacMillan, Seal Cove, Newfoundland, formerly of Trenton, died suddenly at home August 10, 2007. Hughie was a certified automobile and heavy equipment mechanic and then a businessman as the founder of his family business Mac-Mix Concrete Ltd. Born 1936 in New Glasgow, he was the son of Anthony and Winnie (George) MacMillan. He was also predeceased by a sister, Mary Claire. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rebecca (Porter); a son, Jim and wife Gloria, Upper Guillies, N.L.; a daughter, Donna Rideout and husband, Boyd, Fox Trap, N.L.; grandchildren: Anthony MacMillan, Alberta, Rebecca and Trevor Rideout, Fox Trap, N.L.; brothers: John (Edith) Port Howe, N.S.; Jim, Ron (Marilyn) and Paul (Rita) Ontario; Eddy (Sandra) and Francis (Shirley) Trenton; sisters: Janet (Kevin) Ranger, N.B.; Elizabeth/Betty (Ray) Gablonski, Australia; sister-in-law, Doris Kennedy, N.L. and brother-in-law, Grodon Porter, N.L. Funeral service was held August 13th at St. Peter's Church, Upper Gullies, N.L., with Rev. Gregory Mercer and Rev. Emeline Coffin officiating. A tribute was given by niece, Winnie George, a poem read by daughter-in-law, Gloria and readings by nieces, Paula MacMillan Vaudry and Lisa Mansfield. Pallbearers were grandson, Anthony, and five of his brothers, with interment in the Church Cemetery.
