James 'Douglas' Farrell

New Glasgow : James “Douglas” Farrell of Frasers Mountain passed away on Friday January 25th, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Pine Tree, Pictou Count,y he was a son of the late George and Margaret ( Phalen) Farrell. Doug maintained great dignity and peace throughout his illness and spent his remaining time with those who loved him. He was a truck driver for TRA for 25 years until his retirement. Doug was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn. He was a life member of the Elks Club and also a member of the Elks dart league. An avid bowler he was a member of several bowling teams. His hobbies included electronics, pool and he loved trout fishing with his brother Gerald. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 38 years the former Jane Priest; and his pride and joy his beloved daughter Tanya Lynn Farrell of Trenton; sisters, Marie (Billy) Dewtie of Thorburn, Helen (Don) MacDonald of Antigonish; brothers, Bernie (Shirley) of New Glasgow, Johnnie (Theresa) of Pine Tree, Gerald ( Joan) of Pine Tree; many nieces and nephews and brother and sisters-in-laws. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Francis and sisters, Beatrice MacDonnell and Isabel Winneferd His remains will rest in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home for visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn, with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Doug may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
