Lyons Brook – Jo Anne Christine Gillis, Lyons Brook, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away following a short illness, at the Halifax Infirmary, QE II site on March 6, 2008. Born in Toronto, ON, October 30, 1956, she was the daughter of Joan (Brown) MacDougall, Abercrombie, and the late Lawrence MacDougall. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Stellarton, and the C.W.L. She was a former member of the Senior Choir. She was a graduate of St. F.X. University and a 27 year employee of Sobeys Inc. At the time of her death she was Vice-President of Project Control and Methodologies for National IT. She served three terms on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Pictou County; she was also a member of the singing group Impromptu. She is survived by her husband, Alex; her two daughters, Christy (Jeremy) Walker, Igloolik, NU; and Maggie, at home; her only grandson, Alexander Jeremy Walker. She is also survived by her two brothers; Dan, Abercrombie; Jim (Heather), Black Point, and their daughters, Jessica and Marci. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Sunday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
