WESTVILLE – John Allan Dixon, 81, Westville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2008, in the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Simon and Florence (MacLean) Dixon. He was a coal miner having worked in Cape Breton and the Drummond Mines until retirement. John enjoyed music and played the fiddle at many socials and dances. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Nancy Johnston (Garfield), Granton; Angela LeBlanc (Paul), St. John, N.B.; sons, Seymour (Donna), Hamilton Road; Tom ( Helen), Moncton; six grandchildren: Kim Dixon, Mark MacPherson, John MacPherson, Johanna Aucoin, Kelly Smith, and Ryan Dixon; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by half-sister, Mabel Doncaster (Donald), Abercrombie; and brother, Charles, Hamilton, Ont. John was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor (MacNaughton); a son, John “Lolly”; infant grandson, Michael; sister, Peg Hatfield; and brothers, Thomas and Hugh. Visitations will be held today from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with the Rev. Glenn Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
