John Joseph Landry

TRENTON - John Joseph Landry, age 83, of Diamond Street, Trenton, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Peter and Clementine (MacDonald) Landry. He sailed with Imperial Oil tankers for several years as Jr. Engineer. He later worked as a machinist with Maritime Steel, Pictou Shipyards and Hawker Siddeley, retiring in 1981 because of his health. He was a lifetime member of Union Local 1231 serving as financial secretary for eight years. He was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Wheadon; daughter, Theresa Landry, Ottawa; sons: Noel Landry, Dartmouth; Brian (Nancy) Landry, Dartmouth; Michael (Nancy) Landry, Dartmouth; Ross (Dianne) Landry, Caribou Shores; Phillip (Sherry) Landry, Linacy; grandchildren: Joseph and Michael Landry; Geoffrey and Justin Landry; Andrea and Katie Landry; Jean Séguin; sister, Harriet Campbell, Westville. He was predeceased by brothers: Steven, Peter, Douglas; half-brothers, Maynard and John; sisters, Mary and Agnes. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Saturday in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice.
