(Frank) Fergus J.P. Passed peacefully away on May 27, 2008 at Elizabeth Towers, age 92, 1915-2008, World War Two Veteran, Royal Air Force from June, 1940 to official discharge March, 1946. Predeceased by wife Isabella Madden, 1984; second wife Mary Dillon, 1999; father and mother Philip and Maud Wall; sisters Olive O'Toole, Mary Bremner, Alice Bailey and Margaret McCarthy; brothers Gus Wall and Philip Wall; half-sister Christine O'Reilly and half-brother Harry Wall; beloved granddaughter Cindy Wall. Leaving to mourn sister Ena Wall; daughters Jean Sturge (Cyril), Kathy Mackey (Gell), Janet Parsons (David); sons Philip (Sylvia), David (Mary), Frank Jr. (Elizabeth); grandchildren Jeffrey Sturge, Lesleigh Sturge, Stacy D'Agostino (Dominic), Donna Wall, David Wall (Jennifer), Nadine Wall, Rian Wall, Leigh Mackey, Angela Mackey, Andrew Mackey and Katelyn Parsons; great-grandchildren Rachael Wall, Ian Wall and Isabella D'Agostino; step-daughters Maxine Gosse (John and daughter Crystal), Karen Balestra (John) and stepson Derek Dillon (Bonnie); special friends Liv-Therese (Ty) and Daniel Martyn, Tom and Ada Jacobs, Jim and Olive Shields, Bill McDonald, Ted Garland, Gerald Malone, Sid Butler, Honourable Edward Roberts, John Power, Len Coughlan, Hilda Janes, Joan (Wadden) Hann, Nick Facey, Bill Titford, Wilf and Betty Casey, Scott Simmons, Senators Bill Rompkey and Joan Cook, Ottawa, Andy Chatwood, British Columbia, Larry Harrison, R.C.L., British Columbia, Sheila Lane, Aiden Murphy and Wayne Spearns and staff of Veterans Affairs Canada. Frank had many other friends and relatives across North America. He was a Justice of the Peace, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Provincial President Newfoundland and Labrador Command Royal Canadian Legion 1975-1977, appointed Provincial Secretary R.C.L. 1978-1995, Honorary President Provincial Command R.C.L., Life Member Pleasantville Branch 56 R.C.L., and member of the Air Force Association of Canada, 150 North Atlantic Wing. He was awarded the Legion Meritorious Medal with Palm Leaf, Queens Medal 1976, Governor Generals 125th Anniversary Medal 1992, and Queens Golden Jubilee Medal 2002, and was the 1988 St. John's Citizen of the Year. He was an executive member of the fund raising committee for the St. John's Memorial Stadium and on completion was appointed by the late Mayor Harry Mews to be a member of the of the original St. John's Memorial Stadium Commission and was also the Vice Chairman (non-athletic) of the 1977 Canada Summer Games Operations Committee. From 1948-1960 he served as President of St. Patrick's Hall Alumni Patricians Association and in 1971 he was the founding President of the St. Patrick's Hall Parent-Teachers Association. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 10-12, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to take place from Mary Queen of Peace on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
