SALT SPRINGS – Lloyd MacLean Miller, 83, Salt Springs, Pictou County, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with his family by his side. Born in Lime Rock, he was a son of the late Henry and Evelyn (MacLean) Miller. Lloyd started out as a farmer in his earlier days. He worked hard through out his years and became a well known and respected pulp contractor, contracting for Stora from 1961-1973 and then to Scott Paper from 1973-1993. He was president Miller McKinnon Lumber Ltd. until his retirement. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Marlene, Toronto; Geraldine (Gordon) Firth, Pictou; Judy (Max) Elliott, Salt Springs; Doreen (Gerry) O’Reagan, Salt Springs; Gloria (Mick) Franks, Watervale; Glenda (Dick) DeBruyn, Durham Hills; sons, Donald, Salt Springs; David (Viola), Whitecourt, Alberta; brother, Bill, St. Catharines, Ontario; step-children, Kelly Butler, Little Harbour and Karen Jaques, Victoria, B.C.; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grand children and 1 great great-grandchild.; several nieces and nephews and his special longtime feline friend, Patches. He was predeceased by his wife Hazel (Rushton); sister Kathleen Graham and brother Bob. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held 2o’clock Monday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Rev. Mary MacDermid officiating. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the S.P.C.A., P.O. Box 786, New Glasgow, N.S. B2H 5G2
