NEW GLASGOW – Loreida “Lore” (Kukkel) Ulesoo, 82, of Lorne Street, New Glasgow, passed away at home on October 28, 2007. Lore was born in Kanepi, Vorumaa, Estonia on July 25, 1925. She is survived by her immediate family, sons: Rein Ulesoo, Austin, Texas; Tiit Kustas Ulesoo (Jeanne Coppillie), New Glasgow; daughter, Ene Ann Euloth (Peter), West Porters Lake, NS. “Oma” is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer, Kristen, Heather and Marcelle; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Ene and Inge of Estonia; nieces: Inge Hadwick (Tony), England; Tiina and Taimi, both of Estonia. She was predeceased by her husband, Kustas (New Glasgow) in 1991 and two sisters, Evi (England) and Viivi (Estonia). Lore immigrated to Canada with her husband Kustas and son, Rein in 1949. In 1962 with great determination, a trait that she demonstrated throughout her life, she went back to school at the age of 37, and received her Junior and Senior Matriculation from New Glasgow High School. She then obtained her B.A. and B.Ed. from St. Francis Xavier University and went on to become a well liked teacher at New Glasgow High School and Corvey Strasse Gymnasium, Hamburg, Germany. Lore was a very intelligent woman, who loved to sing, dance, travel and solve logic puzzles. She was a master knitter and handcrafter as well as an accomplished seamstress. There will be no visitation by request. A private family committal service will be held in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens with Lori Crocker D.M. officiating. A gathering for relatives and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday in the home of her son, Tiit Ulesoo, 922 Lorne Street Extension, New Glasgow. Donations in her memory may be made to the SPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
